Sunrise Adventure Cruises is a small-boat expedition cruise and tour operator based in Alotau, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea — one of the last truly untouched corners of the South Pacific. The company is an adventure cruise business offering scuba diving, snorkeling, island hopping, and much more, built around giving travelers genuine access to parts of PNG that larger cruise ships and mainstream tour operators simply can't reach.

Who We Are

Sunrise Adventure Cruises has built its reputation on doing the hard things well — arranging dive trips, expeditions, and island experiences in a region where logistics are genuinely difficult, and where "no" is often the easy answer. Past guests have consistently highlighted the personal effort that goes into every trip: sourcing scuba diving where none was readily available, coordinating logistics across remote islands, and going the extra distance to make an experience memorable rather than merely functional.

This shows in the company's 5.0 rating across all reviews on Tripadvisor, with guests describing everything from swimming alongside 2,000 spinner dolphins on a side excursion, to sensational scuba diving arranged specifically around limited time constraints, to a "memorable" team boat trip that left a lasting impression on a visiting business group.

What We Offer

Our core strength is small-group, small-boat expedition cruising through Milne Bay Province — a region of over 160 named islands, coral reefs, and WWII history that most visitors to PNG never get to see. Signature experiences include:

- The 5-Day Signature Safari — a liveaboard-and-camping expedition aboard MV Tiata through the D'Entrecasteaux archipelago, combining world-class diving, sport fishing, spearfishing, snorkeling, kayaking, geothermal hotsprings, historic sites like Dobu Island's 1891 Methodist Church, and genuine cultural immersion with island communities
- Fishing charters and day tours aboard our fleet of 7m fiberglass centre console vessels, suited to everythin

Sunrise Adventure Cruises

Step off the beaten path and into one of the last true frontiers on Earth. The 5-Day Signature Safari takes you deep into PNG's stunning D'Entrecasteaux archipelago aboard MV Tiata — a private, small-group expedition built for divers, anglers, and adventurers who want the real thing, not a crowded tourist circuit.

What Sets Our Transportation Apart

Door-to-Deck Transfers — Free private shuttle pickup and drop-off anywhere in Alotau, including Gurney Airport, the port, or your hotel. Your adventure starts the moment you land.

Dual-Tender Speed — MV Tiata serves as your stable mothership while two high-speed tenders run simultaneous fishing and sightseeing excursions, so there's zero wait time between activities. Everyone stays on the water, doing what they came to do.

Island-Hopping Freedom — Reach remote volcanic islands and untouched reef systems that larger cruise ships simply can't access.

Your 5-Day Journey

Day 1 — Kaluwana Island Camp & First Light on the Water
Arrive at Kaluwana Island, the largest uninhabited island beside Sanaroa, and set up camp right on the sand — with MV Tiata anchored just offshore whenever you want mothership comforts. Start snorkeling, diving, or spearfishing straight off the beach, then head out to the legendary Deidei geothermal hotsprings and historic Dobu Island, fishing and sightseeing the whole way.

Day 2 — Hotsprings & History
Soak in the mineral-rich waters of Fergusson Island's famous Deidei hotsprings — nature's own spa, mud bath included. Then visit Dobu Island's Methodist Church, built in 1891 by Dr. William Bromilow, and hike the extinct volcano that forms the island itself.

Day 3 — Life on Kaluwana Island
A full day and night to make the island yours: fish, spearfish, snorkel, and dive at your own pace. Island-hop and birdwatch across seven nearby uninhabited islands by speedboat, explore Sanaroa's waterfall and hotsprings, or kayak all the way to Sanaroa's Maiaru Point.

Day 4 — Village Life & Culture
Walk Sanaroa Island with a local guide, visit village communities, and take part in pre-arranged cultural activities — traditional sago making, weaving, cooking, and feasting with the very people who call this island home.

Day 5 — Final Feast & Farewell
Join the locals for a friendly volleyball match, then learn to cook mona, a traditional ceremonial dish, alongside other final-day party food. Feast on what you helped prepare, celebrate with the community, or slip back to Kaluwana Island for one last quiet moment on the beach. Board MV Tiata by 6pm for the return to Alotau in time for your flight home.

World-Class Diving & Water Sports
Pristine coral walls and cave diving with a dedicated Dive Master, plus sport fishing, spearfishing, snorkeling, and kayaking throughout — this isn't a single activity trip, it's all of them.

Premium Dining
Fresh local lobster, mud crab, and a traditional pig Mumu feast round out an experience built as much around food and culture as adventure.

Perfect For:
Divers, adventure seekers, sport fishermen and women, spear fishermen and women, hunters, off-grid campers, couples, and retirees looking for something genuinely different.

Why It Works
Rated 5.0 by past guests, Sunrise Adventure Cruises specializes in making the hardest-to-reach parts of PNG accessible — without stripping away the wild, off-grid character that makes Milne Bay unforgettable.
